Chennai: A 45-year-old autorickshaw driver was killed after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an iron barricade marking the site for flyover construction near Vanagaram in the early hours of Wednesday.The deceased has been identified as Alexander, a resident of Poonamallee. Apart from driving an auto, he was also engaged in flower business. On Wednesday morning, he was on his way to the Koyambedu market to purchase flowers.Police said that while riding along the Poonamallee High Road near Vanagaram, Alexander lost control of the auto, and rammed an iron barricade at the flyover construction site.Alexander sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. On receiving information, the Maduravoyal traffic investigation wing police rushed to the scene, recovered the body and sent it to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered.
