Ahmedabad: The registration process for admission from diploma to degree courses in engineering and pharmacy streams concluded recently.This year, 22,138 students registered for the process and 22,046 candidates paid the fees. The admission process is being conducted for 36,212 seats across the state. The Diploma to Degree Common Entrance Test (DDCET) is scheduled to be held offline on April 26. Earlier, students who completed diploma engineering were granted direct admission to the second semester of degree engineering based purely on merit. However, the system has now been revised, making it mandatory for students to take DDCET to secure admission. The admission committee has invited online registrations from Feb 9 to March 30. According to official data, the registered candidates include 8,046 from the general, 3,110 from EWS, 1,653 from SC, 2,011 from ST, and 7,126 from SEBC category. Among the applicants, 5,286 are female and 16,760 are male. In terms of seat distribution, 2,068 seats are available in 16 govt and three grant-in-aid colleges, while 34,144 seats are offered by 120 self-financed institutions. Eligible candidates include those who have completed diplomas from recognized boards in the state, as well as students from across India who are eligible for 5% of seats in govt institutions. Additionally, candidates with BSc or vocational degrees are also eligible to apply. The provisional answer key will be released on April 27, with objections accepted from April 28 to May 2. The final answer key and results are expected in early and mid-May, respectively.
