New Delhi: The city is likely to see a rise in daytime temperatures on Thursday, but rain is likely to bring the temperature below normal again.Safdarjung, Delhi’s base weather station, recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, a notch below normal, compared to 33.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, against 19.4 degrees Celsius a day earlier.According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperatures will spike and likely go up to 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday, only to drop again.The Met department has issued a yellow alert for rain on April 4. Weather experts expect that multiple spells of very light rain across the city in the first week of April will keep temperatures under normal.IMD has predicted rain on April 3, 4 and 5, with the maximum temperature likely to go up to 34 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, the city witnessed widespread rain, logging 8.5 mm rainfall on at Safdarjung. There was no rainfall reported on Wednesday.“A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from April 7, 2026. Rise in maximum temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius during next two days and fall by about 3 degrees Celsius thereafter. These are likely to be normal during next 24 hours, above normal during subsequent two days and below normal thereafter,” stated IMD.Meanwhile, the air quality saw improvement within moderate levels. The AQI on Wednesday was 113, compared to 171 on Tuesday.
