He also asserted that “ECI will leave no stone unturned to ensure free and fair assembly elections.”

Taking to X Handle, West Bengal Chief Electoral office Manoj Kumar Agarwal said, “Councillor Beleghata with some hooligans gheraoed the office of CEO and shouted slogans at the dead of night. Such anti-social activities will not be tolerated and law will take its own course. ECI will leave no stone unturned to ensure free and fair assembly elections.” Security has been beefed up outside the CEO’s office with huge CAPF deployment
A major scuffle took place in front of the Election Commission’s office in Kolkata from Tuesday afternoon as BJP and Trinamool Congress engaged in clashes and stones were hurled and motor bikes were vandalized. The situation became tense forcing the police to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the mob. Central forces were brought in to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday wrote to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, raising serious concerns over the submission of “large numbers of Form 6 applications by BJP agents at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office”.

Each application is accompanied by a unique acknowledgment number. In every instance, Form 6 was submitted alongside the application.”
“In each case, the application was originally submitted to the DEO and subsequently forwarded to the CEO’s office. There is no conspiracy within the CEO’s office. Operations are conducted with complete transparency,” CEO has clarified.
“If a name is excluded from the provisional list, no official possesses the authority to include the names. Such matters can only be resolved through the Tribunal. Resolution of such issues takes place exclusively at the Tribunal level,” CEO clarified. “Neither the CEO’s office nor the DEO will accept any applications of this nature, only ERO can do.”
