Kanpur: An old dilapidated house collapsed in the densely populated area of Beconganj in Kanpur on Monday night, burying seven people standing at a tea shop and a kiosk on ground floor under the debris. People informed Bajriya police about the incident. Police from Bajriya, Chamanganj, Beconganj and Sisamau pulled out all seven people trapped under the debris and admitted them to Lala Lajpat Rai and Ursula hospitals. They were reported to be out of danger.Around 10 on Monday night, a crowd gathered at a tea shop located below the house. Debris from one side of the dilapidated house started falling, causing people to flee. Later, entire portion of the dilapidated house came crashing down.Tenant Manzoor, tea hotel worker Saleem and Tariq, Riyaz Ahmad and Dilshad, along with two others standing at the shop were injured after being caught in the debris. Dilshad’s brother Aftab’s bike was damaged by the debris.After barricading, police used loudspeaker to move the crowd aside. Police, with the help of fire brigade personnel, rushed the injured to the hospital.Ayub alias Raju, resident of Beconganj, a goldsmith, had purchased the old dilapidated house near Roopam Chauraha about 20 years ago. Paan masala vendor Manzoor is resident of the house.On receiving information about the incident, DCP Central Atul Kumar Srivastava and ADCP Archana Singh conducted an inspection. Officials said people were rescued from the debris and sent to the hospital on time.
