T’puram: A 34-year-old man was electrocuted while installing decorative lights for a temple festival at Palode in the early hours of Tuesday.The deceased was identified as Sanu S of Pazhavila in Pangode. The tragic incident occurred around 3am near Kalungu Junction, where preparations were under way for the annual festival at Nanniyode Pacha temple. According to Palode police, Sanu was part of a local decoration committee that set up illuminations for the festival. While mounting decorative lights on an electric post, he accidentally came into contact with a live power line and got electrocuted, said police. Though locals rushed to the spot, Sanu could not be saved. The body was later shifted to a nearby hospital and sent for autopsy. Police registered a case and initiated a probe. Police urged organizers and workers to strictly adhere to safety guidelines, including proper insulation, use of protective gear and supervision by qualified electricians, to prevent such fatal mishaps during festival preparations.
