T’puram: City cyber police on Tuesday arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly sending obscene photographs and messages via WhatsApp to Kerala women’s commission (KWC) chairperson.The accused has been identified as Jagadeesh of Taliparamba, Kannur. According to police, he repeatedly sent vulgar messages and explicit images to the chairperson, causing distress and insult. The case was registered following a formal complaint lodged by the chairperson. Based on scientific evidence, including IP address tracking and a detailed investigation, the accused was traced and apprehended in Kannur. The arrest was carried out by a special investigation team constituted under direction of city police commissioner K Karthick and supervised by deputy commissioner Taposh Basumatari. During the probe, police examined the accused’s mobile phone and found that he allegedly sent similar obscene content to multiple women, indicating a pattern of cyber harassment. Jagadeesh was later produced before additional chief judicial magistrate court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
