Nagpur: Overnight rainfall brought down maximum temperatures across Vidarbha, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more showers, thunderstorms and lightning over the next two days. Akola recorded 37.3°C, down by 4°C, while Amravati saw 38.4°C, a fall of 3°C. Nagpur registered 36.6°C, nearly 4°C below the previous day, indicating a consistent cooling trend across central Vidarbha. The dip in temperatures was accompanied by widespread rainfall. Brahmapuri recorded the highest precipitation at 37.6mm, followed by Chandrapur with 25mm. Gadchiroli received 17.2mm, while Akola and Bhandara recorded 7.7mm and 5mm respectively. Moderate showers were also reported in Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.Meteorologists said cloud cover and rain activity helped suppress daytime temperatures, though humidity levels remained high, making conditions uncomfortable, especially during morning hours. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-50kmph) at isolated places across Vidarbha over the next 48 hours. While the ongoing weather activity is expected to bring temporary respite from heat, intermittent spells of rain and lightning are likely to continue. With pre-monsoon activity setting in early, the region is expected to witness fluctuating weather conditions, marked by cooler days, high humidity and periodic rainfall in the coming days.
