GURGAON: A Class XII student received multiple fractures and serious head injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a group of youths —with iron rods and sticks —outside an examination centre in Sector 14.Two days after the incident, a case was registered at Sector 14 police station naming four people as accused, following a complaint lodged by Piyush Singh, who hails from UP’s Jaunpur. “The assault is due to a previous enmity,” a senior police officer said.Piyush alleged that one of the attackers was carrying a gun and threatened to kill him. He sustained fractures in both legs and his right hand. One of the accused snatched his mobile phone when he tried to call for help, he said.The officer said, “An altercation previously occurred between the victim and the group last month. We are trying to ascertain the reason behind the assault and their previous enmity. Meanwhile, a team is conducting raids to nab the accused involved in the incident.”Piyush —currently residing in Patel Nagar area of Sector 15 Part 2 — went to appear for his board examination at a school on March 28. Around 1.45pm, shortly after he exited the examination centre, three youths — identified as Sahil, Ricky and Raju — blocked his way and assaulted him. One of them struck him on the head with a brick and an iron rod, causing him to fall.Soon after, around 10 to 12 more youths arrived in a Scorpio and another vehicle and joined in the assault. “I tried to take shelter in a nearby canteen, but a group of five to seven attackers followed me inside and continued beating me with rods and sticks,” the complaint stated.Police said the injured was initially admitted to a hospital in Sector 10, where doctors recorded 14 injuries and declared him unfit to give a statement on the day of the incident. The following day, doctors declared him fit, after which he gave a written complaint in the presence of his relatives.The case was registered under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 190 (unlawful assembly), 191(2) (rioting), 117(2) (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 124 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt using acid etc) and110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of BNS.
