Kanpur: At least 14 persons were injured when a truck and a private bus collided head-on near Shambhuha bridge on Kanpur-Sagar highway in Bidhnu area late on Sunday. The situation worsened when a dumper rammed into the bus from behind, causing both the vehicles to go out of control and overturn into a roadside ditch.On receiving information, police teams from Bidhnu and Sen Paschim Para rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the community health centre (CHC) in Bidhnu. After primary treatment, nine critically injured persons were referred to the district hospital in Kanpur, while some of them sought treatment at private hospitals on their own. Station House Officer Tej Bahadur Singh said that Police personnel had to break the windows of the overturned bus to rescue those trapped inside, with the help of passersby. All injured were promptly taken to hospitals and the matter was under investigation. Assistant commissioner of police Krishnakant Yadav said the exact cause of the accident is being investigated and further action would be taken based on the complaint received.
