Ajmer: An elderly couple residing alone in Sanket Nagar in Beawar city was found murdered Sunday night after neighbours noticed that their roof tank was overflowing for a long time. The incident created sensation in the neighbourhood, and police found that the couple—Vinod Sharma (66) and his wife Purnima Sharma (65)—had been brutally killed, with an iron rod found at the spot.The couple’s son, a software engineer working in Gurugram, reached home Monday morning and told police that there were goods missing from the house. The night before, when the double murder was discovered by police around 10pm, Beawar SP Ratan Singh and other senior officers had reached the spot along with a forensics team. Based on footage from CCTV cameras in the colony, police identified four suspects, one of them the maid who worked at the house. Barricades were set up on all major roads, and different teams started a search at the railway station and bus stand. Around noon, police detained the maid along with her 2 minor sons, as well as a man known to the maid, Rahul Parihar (21), native of Pali district but current resident of Beawar.Police sources said the maid, along with her two minor sons aged 15 and 17, and Rahul Parihar went to the house Sunday evening with the intention to rob the couple. When they faced resistance, they killed the couple and fled from the scene. After postmortem, police handed over the couple’s bodies to their son. Police sources mentioned that Rahul Parihar has a criminal background with several cases registered against him.
