Kanpur: The National Commission for Safai Karmacharis has taken serious cognisance of the deaths of two sanitation workers during septic tank cleaning at an apartment complex in Kalyanpur area.During his visit to the city on Monday, commission vice-chairman Hardeep Singh Gill met the bereaved families at their residence and inspected the incident site in Gooba Garden. He also sought a detailed report from the district administration.Speaking to the media, Gill said that the commission acted promptly after receiving information about the incident and issued directions to the administration before conducting an on-ground review. He confirmed that an FIR has been registered, and preliminary investigation points to negligence on the part of the contractor. He said mandatory safety protocols were ignored.
