Mapusa: Mandrem gram sabha on Sunday passed budget of Rs 4.5 crore for the financial year 2026-27, with Rs 95 lakh allotted to make the village garbage-free.Under sarpanch Kiran Sawant, the gram sabha discussed infrastructure and environmental issues and warned of action against hotels violating noise rules.Sawant also assured to conduct inspections after members raised complaints of illegal construction.Villagers demanded increased spending on health care and education. Locals Sudesh Sawant and Tushar Govekar criticised the “meagre” allocation of Rs 60,000 for seed distribution. There was also a demand to raise an emergency fund of Rs 5 lakh.
