Chandigarh: An SGPC member and two vice-presidents of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) were among Akali leaders who joined BJP here on Monday.SGPC member and SAD national vice-president Charanjit Singh Kalewal from Mohali district, SAD national vice-president Ramandeep Singh Bharowal from Tarn Taran district, and second-generation Akali leader Avtar Singh Ramewal from Nakodar in Jalandhar district switched over to the saffron fold.Welcoming the trio, Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Sharma said, “Their experience, grassroots connect, and commitment to Panthic values would strengthen BJP in Punjab and expand the party’s base and accelerate its mission of development, good governance, and service to the people of the state.”
