Prayagraj: Consumers in different parts of Sangam are face hardships because of delay in LPG cylinder delivery despite repeated official assurances that there is no shortage of supply. Majority of consumers claim that ground realities are different from official claims. Many consumers report that even after booking cylinder and receiving delivery authentication code (DAC) messages on their mobile phones, they are forced to wait for several days, compelling them to make repeated visits to gas agencies and standing in long queues.Old cityresident Purushottam Srivastava said, “Even after receiving confirmation, cylinder has not been delivered. I have been waiting for more than a week. I booked on Mar 23 and despite receiving DAC, no cylinder has been delivered.”Lukerganj resident, Anjali, said managing household work without LPG has become impossible. “It has been so many days of waiting and we are managing with great difficulty,” she said.Residents complained that delivery staff was also not responding to their calls. Old city resident Akhilesh said he received DAC message over 10 days back, but has yet to receive a cylinder. “When distributors do not answer calls, we have no other option but to visit the agency, which is extremely inconvenient,” he said.Customers also questioned discrepancy between official claims and actual supply. Distributors confirmed there has been at least a 10-day gap between booking, along with generating DAC and delivery of cylinders and demand could only be met when there was adequate daily supply of cylinders from oil companies with no quota cut. The limit of backlog is also increasing. On Sunday, people in large numbers rushed to agencies in Old City areas to find reason behind the delay. They have also made an appeal for better monitoring of gas agencies to ensure timely delivery of cylinders and prevent any malpractice.
