Chennai: Puthiya Tamilagam (PT) founder K Krishnasamy on Sunday announced that he will contest in Ottapidaram constituency in Tuticorin for the upcoming assembly election. This will be his seventh electoral contesting in Ottapidaram, where he won twice.Krishnasamy’s son Shyam Krishnasamy, the party’s state youth wing president, will contest in two constituencies — Tirunelveli and Srivilliputhur. At his party headquarters in Chennai, Krishnasamy announced candidates for 43 constituencies and said the list for other segments will follow. PT is contesting independently. Krishnaswamy had attempted to join the AIADMK alliance, but said AIADMK did not accord due respect to PT. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said no formal talks were held with PT, and that it sought 10 seats, which was later relaxed to five. Responding, Krishnasamy said he met EPS twice, along with other leaders such as S P Velumani for alliance talks.
