T’puram: A major mishap was averted after a KSRTC Swift AC sleeper bus caught fire near Venjaramoodu in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday morning.The incident occurred around 9am when the bus, operating from Parassinikkadavu in Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram, reached a flooded stretch of road near Nellanadu UP School. According to officials, the driver noticed smoke billowing from the front portion of the vehicle and immediately brought the bus to a halt.Acting swiftly, the driver and conductor evacuated all passengers to safety before the fire intensified. Personnel from the fire and rescue services unit in Venjaramoodu arrived soon and brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported in the incident. Preliminary indications suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire. tnn
