The actor-turned politician Vijay will contest elections from Perambur (Chennai) and Trichy East, and said it will be ‘C Joseph Vijay’. He named senior party leaders N Anand, Adhav Arjuna, KA Sengkottaiyan, and CTR Nirmal Kumar as party candidates from various seats.
Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu are scheduled to be held on April 23, as per election dates released by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
TVK Candidate List for Tamil Nadu elections:
- Vijay will contest elections from Perambur (Chennai) and Trichy East
- General Secretary, N Anand, will contest from the T Nagar constituency
- Treasurer Venkat Ramanan will contest from Mylapore
- Aadhav Arjuna will contest from Villivakkam
Ahead of releasing the full candidate list, Vijay said, “Today is an important day, a day where we introduce the true protectors of the people. Our candidates come from ordinary backgrounds. They are not people with great wealth or power. They are people who understand the struggles of the common man.”
Unlike other MLAs, Vijay said, TVK candidates are not corrupt. “An MLA should not rely merely on experience. What matters is integrity, responsibility, and commitment to the people. An MLA is not just a representative; they are the protectors of the Assembly and the voice of the people. I have personally selected each candidate after careful consideration…” he said.
Vijay promised not to misuse public money or indulge in corruption, and ensure women’s safety, to create a drug-free Tamil Nadu, and to maintain strict law and order. In his public speech, he assured the citizens that he would never act against the interests of the people of this state.
He noted that the upcoming assembly elections are a healthy democratic battle between Vijay and ‘Stalin sir’.
Earlier on Saturday, TVK lodged a complaint with the Chief Election Officer (CEO) alleging that senior IAS and IPS officers are still aligned with the ruling DMK party, and that the officials are delaying or rejecting their leaders’ campaign events at the last minute.
“We have lodged a complaint with the Chief Election Officer, saying that most of the senior IAS and IPS officers are still aligned with the ruling DMK party, actively campaigning for them both directly and indirectly… They are deliberately delaying or rejecting their leaders’ campaign events at the last minute,” CTR Nirmalkumar, Joint General Secretary, TVK, told ANI.
“We have given evidence and requested the transfer of specific officers to ensure a fair election. A similar situation has taken place in West Bengal, where over 600 officers were transferred, while we are asking for the transfer of just a few of them,” he added.
