Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is set to conduct the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GujCET) on Sunday for admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses. The exam will be held in three phases from 9.30am to 5.05pm across the state, with comprehensive arrangements already in place.This year, a total of 1,35,875 students have registered for the exam. Among them, 79,750 students are from the Gujarati medium, 55,019 from the English medium, and 1,106 from the Hindi medium. The gender distribution includes 73,150 male candidates and 62,725 female candidates, continuing the trend of higher male participation.The exam will be conducted across 34 zones, covering 668 centers and 6,857 blocks. To ensure transparency and prevent malpractice, all exam centers have been equipped with CCTV surveillance and strict monitoring systems.Group-wise data indicates that the B Group (biology stream) has the highest number of candidates, with 77,074 registrations. The A Group (mathematics stream) has 58,406 students, while 395 students have registered for both groups (AB Group). As per the exam pattern, A and B Group students will appear for three papers each, while AB Group students will take four papers.The exam schedule begins with a combined physics and chemistry paper from 9.30am to 12.05pm, which is mandatory for all groups. This will be followed by the biology paper from 1.10pm to 2.45pm for B and AB Group students. Finally, the mathematics paper will be conducted from 3.30pm to 5.05pm for A and AB Group candidates.In terms of marking scheme, the physics-chemistry paper will carry 80 marks, while biology and mathematics papers will be of 40 marks each. Question papers will be available in Gujarati, Hindi, and English mediums.Authorities have stated that all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the exam across Gujarat.
