Kota: A mentally retarded man damaged a 3-feet-tall Lord Hanuman statue in a temple on bank of Chambal River under Nayapura police station area in Kota Saturday.The accused has been identified as Chotu Singh (28), a native of Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh. SHO Vinod Kumar said the incident occurred around 10.30 am, when the man vandalised the statue. When another man, identified as Krishanmurari, tried to stopping him, the accused allegedly attacked him with a wooden mace, causing a head injury for which he had to undergo primary medical care at a hospital. After being informed, the police reached the spot and detained the accused on basis of CCTV footage. Kumar said, the accused has found to be and addicted to Ganja. He further said that a new statue of Hanuman is being installed in the temple.The police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
