Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has further intensified its city cleanliness efforts with the launch of—Special Night Sanitation Drive and Outer Ring Road Cleanliness Drive.The unique initiative was inaugurated by MCC commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif at the premises of the Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple at the Mysuru Palace on Friday evening.As part of the pilot phase, the night cleaning drive was carried out at five major locations across the city. Executive engineer Srinivas, environmental executive engineer Mrutyunjaya, environmental engineers—Maithri and Krishnamurthy, along with other officials, were present.The primary objective of this initiative is to ensure that the city appears clean and fresh by morning by carrying out sanitation work during night when residents are resting. Cleaning activities during the day is often challenging due to heavy traffic and public movement. Keeping this in mind, MCC has introduced mechanised cleaning operations during the night.The commissioner said that the MCC is working round-the-clock to maintain cleanliness in the city and appealed to the public to cooperate in their effort.Meanwhile, on Saturday, the MCC launched an Outer Ring Road Cleanliness Drive, which began at Doddakere Maidan.Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif inaugurated the campaign and urged citizens and organisations to actively participate in making the city clean and green. He also emphasised the importance of environmental protection and public hygiene.Superintending engineer Manju CS, executive engineer Madhusudan, and other officials were present.Several non-governmental organisations, school and college students, and members of civic groups participated in the drive, and cleaned various stretches of the Ring Road.
