GHAZIABAD: Two people were killed in separate hit-and-run accidents under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station, police said.None of the accused drivers have been arrested so far.In the first incident, a 35-year-old clerk of a private company in Delhi was killed on Thursday near Hapur Mor after the scooter he was travelling on was hit by a private bus.According to police, the victim was identified as Yash Priya Mohan, a resident of Rama Garhi in Sihani Gate. The deceased’s younger brother, Om Priya Mohan, lodged a complaint in the matter.As per the FIR, Yash left his house for Delhi around 9.45am. When he reached Hapur Mor GT Road, a private bus being driven recklessly and at high speed hit his scooter from behind. “Due to the collision, my brother was flung on the road. Although he was wearing a helmet, the impact caused fatal injuries,” Om said. Although many locals had gathered near the accident spot, the bus driver abandoned the bus and managed to flee, he added.SHO of Kotwali police station Sachin Kumar said the bus driver has been charged under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS. The driver has been identified with the help of the bus number and the bus has been seized. A team has been formed to nab him and police are also checking CCTV cameras around the spot.In the second case, a 42-year-old man riding a motorcycle was killed by an unknown vehicle near Lal Kuan flyover. The incident took place on Wednesday morning but the victim succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment on Thursday.According to police, the deceased, Ankur Singh, is a resident of Bheemnagar in the Crossing Republik area.In his complaint, Sonu Kumar, the brother-in-law of the deceased, said Ankur was travelling to the Lal Kuan gas agency at 8.30am on Wednesday when the accident happened.“Near the Bikaner Cut of Lal Kua Flyover, the driver of an unknown vehicle, driving rashly and negligently, hit my brother-in-law’s motorcycle from behind, causing him serious injuries. On Thursday, around 10.30am, he succumbed to his injuries at GTB Hospital in Delhi,” Kumar said.The Kotwali police station SHO said an FIR against the unknown driver has been registered. Police are checking CCTV footage to identify the person.
