Hyderabad: A representative of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) lodged a complaint with the Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport police alleging that certain YouTube video creators are circulating fabricated and misleading videos portraying the airport as haunted. Police registered a case and launched a probe to identify the miscreants.In his complaint, a GHIAL representative alleged that two videos uploaded on separate channels used “deceptive and manipulated” visuals to misinform the public and suggest that the airport is a haunted location. Alleging that the content could spread rumours, cause panic, mislead passengers, and damage the reputation of a critical national infrastructure, the complainant requested police to initiate appropriate legal action against the accused.The complainant provided URLs of the YouTube videos to the police and cited news articles mentioning a YouTuber’s arrest by Goa police in 2025 for spreading similar rumours about the Goa airport. On his complaint, a case was registered under Sections 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on March 25. Police said that they will seek details of the video uploaders and initiate appropriate legal action against them.
