Namakkal: An election flying squad team on Thursday seized gift items distributed by political parties from a passenger at Namakkal old bus stand.According to an official source, the team led by vehicle inspection officer Balasubramaniam found utensils worth Rs11,000 and two saris when they checked a travel bag being carried by Selvam, of Chennai. “His wife is a native of Mohanur in Namakkal district. Some utensils had photos of former AIADMK minister Gokula Indira affixed on them, and others had photos of Anna Nagar DMK MLA Karthik Mohan. The items were seized and handed over to the Namakkal police for further investigation,” the source said. Preliminary probe revealed that the items were distributed by AIADMK during MGR birthday celebrations in Anna Nagar constituency and DMK during the Pongal festival in the same constituency.
