GHAZIABAD: A 38-year-old man who had allegedly shot his wife and his friend dead with a country-made pistol over a suspected affair at their Tronica City home was arrested on Wednesday.ACP (Loni) Siddharth Gautam said they arrested the man, Rashid, from Rampark colony. During interrogation, he had promised to show them the spot in the forest near Jain Colony, Harampur, where he had hidden the murder weapon. When the cops took him to the spot, he opened fire at them with that pistol.“In retaliatory action, the police team shot Rashid in his right leg. He has been sent to the hospital for treatment,” he said.Police said Rashid, had invited his friend and colleague Faheem (32) to dine with him and wife on Monday evening. The three reportedly spent hours together eating and smoking before tensions escalated close to midnight. During the argument, he allegedly pulled out the pistol kept inside an almirah and opened fire.The couple’s seven-year-old son, who was in another room, reportedly entered after hearing raised voices and witnessed the shooting. Police said the child indicated that his father first shot Faheem in the head and then turned the gun on his wife, Shabnam (36).An FIR was filed against Rashid under section 103 (murder) of BNS.“During questioning, Rashid said he had found Shabnam and Faheem in an objectionable position in the past, and had asked his wife to end the affair. He advised Faheem to do so, but he refused as well. Shabnam also wanted to sell the house since she was the owner. This left Rashid with no option and he decided to kill them,” the ACP said.Police seized the murder weapon and one live cartridge. Two cases, including murder, attempt to murder and theft, have been registered against Rashid at Tronica City police station.
