Srinagar, Mar 26: The opening ceremony of J&K UT Level Ball Badminton Championship for Boys and Girls, Session 2025–26 was successfully held on Thursday with enthusiastic participation from players across the Union Territory.
More than 200 players from various districts of the Jammu and Kashmir divisions took part in the championship.
On the first day of the event, 15 matches (5s format) were conducted across all categories, including Sub-Junior, Junior, Youth, and Senior for both boys and girls. Additionally, 10 matches were played in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles categories.
The championship has been organized by the J&K Ball Badminton Association under the banner of the Ball Badminton Federation of India, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, which is also sponsoring the event.
This prestigious championship will continue for three consecutive days, bringing together talented players from across the UT to compete and showcase their skills. The closing ceremony is scheduled for March 28, 2026.
Players who secure medals in this championship will earn the opportunity to represent the Union Territory in the upcoming Sub-Junior, Junior, Youth, and Senior National Championships.
The event aims to promote ball badminton in Jammu & Kashmir and provide a platform for young athletes to demonstrate their talent at a higher level.
Officials, coaches, and sports enthusiasts attended the opening ceremony and appreciated the efforts made to organize the championship successfully.
