T’puram: Excise department on Thursday arrested former Santosh Trophy player Najeeb Khan (50) with MDMA from a hotel room in Bakery Junction.Khan, a native of Beemapally, is a senior employee of Travancore Titanium Products Ltd. Around 4g MDMA were seized from his possession.According to excise officials, Khan had been under surveillance for several weeks following inputs about drug trafficking. He allegedly procured MDMA from Bengaluru and supplied it to customers in the city using a dating app. After finalizing deals online, he would book hotel rooms where customers would come for the drugs.Officials said he had been involved in drug use for nearly five years and had built a network targeting young people through the app. There are also allegations that he lured youngsters to hotels under the pretext of drug deals. His mobile phone has been seized, and initial probe revealed details of others involved in the network, excise officials said.Excise inspector Arun Ashok said further probe is under way. TNN
