Bengaluru: Karnataka govt advanced by a day the public holiday date for Mahavir Jayanti. As per an official notification issued Thursday, the holiday — earlier scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 — will now be observed on Monday, March 30.The notification said the holiday will be observed under the provisions of Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. This means banks, govt offices and other institutions covered under the Act will remain closed on the revised date.Officials said the decision was taken to align the holiday with the correct observance of Mahavir Jayanti. All govt departments, financial institutions, and public sector offices have been directed to take note of the change and make arrangements. SSLC third language paper postponed The third language paper of SSLC exams will be held on March 31 instead of March 30 because of Mahavir Jayanti holiday. All other papers will be held as per schedule.There will be no change in exams of ICSE (class 10) and ISC (class 12) of Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), scheduled for March 31.
