Gurgaon: Roads next to schools must be maintained regularly, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Sonu Bhatt directed all departments responsible for road upkeep during a district-level committee meeting on Wednesday. The ADC reviewed the Safe School Vehicle Policy and instructed all SDMs to regularly inspect school buses in their respective areas and directed police teams to ensure compliance with road safety rules.Illegal road cuts, electricity poles installed in the middle of main roads, street lights, black spots near Panchgaon Chowk and the Rapid Metro, measures required to prevent accidents, widening of the road at Bristol Chowk and availability of safety standards, removal of encroachments at the sectors 4-7-9 junction, installation of high-mast lights at major junctions on NH8, and overloaded vehicles, was discussed during the meeting. Providing medical assistance to victims during road accidents was also discussed during the meeting.ADC directed a joint team comprising representatives from the police, GMDA, DLF and Raahgiri Foundation to inspect Bristol Chowk and submit their report. ADC the district transport officer and secretary of the regional transport authority to organise a training camp with the IIT Madras team to understand the functioning of the TMS and e-DAR applications.DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan shared his suggestions on accident prevention and traffic management. He said any issue related to illegal cuts presented in the meeting should be routed through the area traffic in-charge. In cases of cable theft or similar incidents affecting street light maintenance, the concerned agency must first register a report at the nearest police station. The ADC also directed DHBVN officials to release the electricity connection for the high-mast light at Panchgaon Chowk.Responding to the issue of vehicle overloading, assistant RTA Harendra Veer informed that since the previous meeting, 116 overloaded vehicles have been challaned till March 24, and Rs 82 lakh in revenue has been collected.
