Ahmedabad: The State Vigilance Commission received as many as 9,037 complaints across various departments, boards and corporations in 2024, with the urban development and urban housing department accounting for the largest share, according to a report tabled in the state assembly on Wednesday.The department alone received 3,271 complaints — 36% of the total — making it the most complained-about, reflecting widespread public dissatisfaction over urban governance, housing and civic services. The revenue department ranked second with 1,018 complaints, followed by the home department (862), panchayat and rural development (800), and labour and employment (495).The report also flagged persistent delays in submission of retirement-related disciplinary cases. Of 39 such cases, 13 were delayed by over a year despite repeated instructions.District-wise, Surat recorded the highest complaints, followed by Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Gandhinagar, indicating regional concentration of grievances.
