Mangaluru: Police arrested a youth for allegedly sharing communal and provocative posts on social media following a murder in the city. The accused is Pavan Acharya,22, from Kaup in Udupi district.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH stated that in connection with the circulation of communal and provocative posts on social media in the aftermath of the Suhas Shetty murder in 2025, a case was registered at Kankanady Town police station under Sections 353(1), 353(2), 61(2), and 55 of the BNS, and was under investigation. During the investigation, police identified that the posts were shared from an account named ‘TN-Maddy.’ Kankanady Town police traced the accused and arrested him on Wednesday. He was produced before a court, which remanded him in 14 days of judicial custody. It was also found that a separate case was registered against the accused at Kaup police station in Udupi district for posting similar communal content on social media, and the investigation in that case is also ongoing.
