Bathinda: Police have recovered a pistol belonging to slain kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria, with the arrest of a man involved in a recent armed robbery.Gurmail Singh of Jandawala village allegedly stole the weapon during the chaos of Balachauria’s murder during a kabaddi tournament in Sohana village, near Mohali, on Dec 15, 2025, said Bhucho DSP Pritpal Singh. The action came after Harpreet Singh of Romana Ajit Singh village lodged a complaint alleging two men robbed him of his motorcycle and mobile phone at gunpoint near Goniana Khurd village on March 23. Police arrested Gurmail Singh and recovered a firearm used in the crime. The DSP said Gurmail confessed to stealing the pistol from the scene of Balachauria’s killing. Gurmail had been in the audience to watch the tournament and snatched the weapon after shooters opened fire on the promoter. A case has been registered at the Nehianwala police station.
