Her name has featured in BJP’s third list released today, which has 19 names. A few days back the RG Kar victim’s mother had said that she is eager to fight the polls on a BJP ticket and fight the corrupt Trinamool Congress in Bengal and issues of women’s safety and security.
The BJP announcement comes as political parties intensify election preparedness for the high-stakes electoral battle.

Debnath is the mother of the victim in the Kolkata RG Kar Hospital rape case, and her nomination has drawn significant attention, with the BJP highlighting it as a symbol of its stand on justice and women’s safety. The whole country had witnessed major protest over the rape and murder of the PGT doctor.
The BJP has announced its second list on March 19 with candidates encompassing Sandeshkhali protest face Rekha Patra, actors, former Police Commissioner, former union minister, sitting MLAs, lawyers, naming candidates for 111 more constituencies for the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal.
With this, the party has announced a total of 274 candidates for the 294-member assembly. The first list released on March 14, had names of 144 candidates.
