Lucknow: Talent came to the fore in ‘Kathak Sandhya’ organised by Birju Maharaj Kathak Sansthan and UP culture department at Rai Umanath Bali auditorium on Tuesday. BMKS chairperson Kum Kum Dhar Chowdhury said, “This programme will be organised every month to promote Kathak and let youngsters know about our traditional dance instead of following only western dance forms.“Main performer Manisha Mishra’s presentation was based on the five-syllable mantra ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ and portrayed different forms of Lord Shiva. Her concluding item was to the tune of thumri “Dagar beech kaise chaloon, pag roke Kanhaiya”, depicting the tender bond between Radha and Krishna.Chief guest was Prof Sunita Mishra, acting vice-chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University. Vice-president of BMKS Mithilesh Tiwari was present on the occasion.
