Pune: The Nigdi police on Monday, have arrested a 52-year-old man and registered a case against his wife and son on the charge of attempting to kill four persons with a billhook during a quarrel in the parking area of a housing society in Nigdi Ota Scheme area.The incident happened late on Sunday night. The victims, who sustained severe injuries in the attack, are undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital. A resident of the society (25) lodged a complaint with the Nigdi police.A Nigdi police officer said that on Sunday night, the complainant and his two friends were chatting in their society’s parking lot. “The woman and her son approached them. The son snatched off one friend’s glasses, triggering a heated argument,” the officer said.He said the woman then snatched the glasses and broke them, and also assaulted the complainant’s other friend. Hearing the commotion, the complainant’s parents rushed to the parking lot, by which time the woman’s husband had also arrived. The trio then attacked the parents. “Meanwhile, the accused went to his flat, returned with a billhook, and assaulted the complainant and his friend. The complainant’s cousin, who intervened, was also injured,” he said.The officer said that four victims sustained injuries in the attack. When the other residents tried to intervene, the accused threatened them with dire consequences and fled. “We have arrested one of the three suspects. Search is on for two others,” the officer said.
