NEW DELHI: The Delhi Vidhan Sabha was placed on high alert on Wednesday after an email claimed that 16 RDX-laden improvised explosive devices (IEDs) had been planted inside the assembly, with a warning of a blast at 1.40pm.Delhi Police said the sender, allegedly based in Coimbatore, cited political grievances and urged immediate evacuation of the premises. Security agencies swiftly evacuated the building, deploying bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs to conduct thorough checks.Officials said efforts are underway to trace the origin of the email and verify the authenticity of the threat.The development comes a day after similar threat emails were sent to the assembly, the Speaker’s office, and nearby locations, including the Vidhan Sabha Metro Station, triggering security sweeps.Authorities said the mails mentioned several prominent leaders, raising the seriousness of the alert. Despite this, officials maintained that assembly proceedings would continue, asserting that security has been tightened and there is no cause for panic.
