Margao: Altaf Shah Syed, wanted by police in connection with the murder of Ali Kalandar Khanzade, vice-president of Sunni Gulistan Masjid at Gogal, Margao, was on Tuesday arrested at Bengaluru airport from Dubai.He is the ninth person arrested in the case. Fatorda PI Ditendra Naik said a team has been sent to Bengaluru to bring Altaf back to Goa. Khanzade was stabbed in the stomach on Jan 30, shortly after Friday prayers, in what police said was a dispute over control of the mosque committee.Police have arrested eight others, Akram Khan, Alam Syed, Latif Syed, Ubedullah Makandar, Sakruddin Sheikh, Husein Khan, Nizamuddin Syed, and Sahil Kanvi alias Sparky. They were booked under sections 103(2), 61, 351, and 190 of the BNS. Police sources Akram Khan is the prime accused. He and Sahil Kanvi are in judicial custody, while others got bail. Court rejected anticipatory bail pleas by Sarfaraz and Mehboob Makandar. Police said Altaf fled to Dubai two days before the murder.
