Chennai: A 31-year-old lawyer was arrested on Tuesday on charges of raping a 12-year-old girl. A man filed a complaint at Thirumangalam all-women police station stating that his 12-year-old daughter, a Class VII student, had been sexually assaulted at their home by a relative on Monday.While the girl was alone at home, the man entered the house and sexually assaulted her. The incident came to light when the child confided in an administrator at her dance school. After the administrator informed the girl’s parents, they lodged a complaint, following which the police registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and arrested the man. Investigation revealed that the man had been sexually assaulting the girl for five years. TNN
