Guwahati: BJP on Tuesday said the party has entered the electoral battlefield on the twin pillars of development and indigenous safeguards.Spokesperson Pranjal Kalita said with the unprecedented rise and consolidation of the NDA govt in Assam, Congress-led opposition alliance finds itself gripped by palpable anxiety and political disarray.
“Bereft of any substantive issue, the opposition has plunged into the 2026 electoral contest in a state of utter ideological bankruptcy, faltering in its engagement with the people and resorting to hollow rhetoric,” he said.Kalita added that while BJP has been meticulously crafting a transformative roadmap for Assam’s progress, the opposition, devoid of vision and credibility, seeks to traverse the electoral landscape solely through relentless criticism. He alleged that Congress’ state president Gaurav Gogoi, in alliance with Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi, is indulging in political theatrics by importing an alien force like the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha — an entity disconnected from Assam’s socio-cultural ethos — in a desperate bid to secure electoral gains.“People of Assam have already repudiated Congress-led alliance for its consistent opposition to the long-pending demands of the tea tribe community, including rightful recognition and land entitlements. In a striking parallel to historical betrayals, it is evident that Gaurav Gogoi and Lurinjyoti Gogoi, in their pursuit of power, have sought refuge under the shadow of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, a figure once mired in serious allegations of corruption, thereby exposing the moral bankruptcy of their political enterprise,” Kalita said.“From advancements in healthcare, education, and infrastructure to the provision of 3% reservation in govt employment and the impactful ‘Eti Koli Duti Paat’ scheme aimed at youth empowerment, BJP has ushered in a new era of dignity and opportunity,” he added.
