T’puram: A voter awareness campaign led by ‘Motu’, the elephant mascot of motor vehicles department, drew significant public attention in Thampanoor under the aegis of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme on Tuesday. The initiative was jointly organized by district administration and MVD to educate public on importance of exercising their franchise. Thiruvananthapuram assistant collector Sivasakthivel C inaugurated the programme.Regional transport officer Jayesh Kumar, chief managing director of MVD and KSRTC Pramod Shankar, and assistant transport commissioner Tojo M Thomas were among those who attended the event.In a related initiative, an election awareness programme was conducted for students at Polytechnic College, Vattiyoorkavu, under the leadership of SVEEP.Students were administered the voter’s pledge, and various activities aimed at promoting electoral awareness were organized. College principal Unnikrishnan Nair and NCC officer Girish P Nair also participated in the programme. TNN
