New Delhi: Delhi govt has proposed developing a dedicated cycle track along the Yamuna riverfront through DDA, aimed at promoting green mobility and reducing pollution in the capital.Presenting the budget Tuesday, CM Rekha Gupta said work on the project has begun. The plan envisions a 53km continuous cycling and walking track, stretching from Wazirabad Barrage to Kalindi Kunj Biodiversity Park. The project, to be executed in three phases, is expected to be completed within three years. It is aimed at encouraging non-motorised transport, enhancing public spaces and improving the ecological landscape along the Yamuna floodplains.CM also announced Delhi govt, in collaboration with MCD, plans to develop five parking facilities to improve urban mobility and ease congestion. A recent presentation by MCD listed sites identified for multi-level parking — Bank Street in Karol Bagh, Punjabi Bagh Club Road, Bharat Darshan Park, Shastri Park in Karol Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Pusa Lane and Rani Bagh. These facilities are expected to address the acute shortage of organised parking in busy commercial and residential areas.MCD updated govt on 10 MLP facilities that have been opened to public – at Green Park, Central Market in Lajpat Nagar, Adchini Village, Amar Colony, near Nizamuddin Basti, Gandhi Maidan in Chandni Chowk, Qutab Road, Nigambodh Ghat, Punjabi Bagh cremation ground and GK-1 Market. Construction of a parking facility at Fatehpuri Market is underway.To boost heritage tourism, the 162-year-old Town Hall in Chandni Chowk will be redeveloped as a global heritage centre with central govt’s cooperation.
