Kolkata: The first supplementary list came as a shocker for 340 electors in part 5 of Basirhat. All of them were under adjudication and their names were deleted. The deletion also includes the BLO and his two siblings. BLO Md Safiul Alam, a schoolteacher, rued, “Both my parents have their names on 2002 list and I was mapped to them. I was called to hearing due to mismatch in my father’s name. Surprisingly, names of all the electors under adjudication have been struck off the roll.”Another voter, Md Tarikul Alam, said, “We are five siblings, but in my case, it was shown that I have six siblings. How did this happen?”Swapan Mondal, general secretary of ‘Votekarmi o BLO Aikya Mancha’, said, “The EC should probe this.” A senior EC official said, “Judicial officers who checked the data can only say why this happened.”
