Nagpur: The Maharashtra govt on Monday approved allotment of 500sqm land in Sonapur village of Gadchiroli district for construction of an office building for the assistant central intelligence officer (ACIO), marking a step towards strengthening administrative and security infrastructure in the region.The decision was formalised through a govt resolution issued by the revenue dept on Monday, based on a proposal submitted by the Nagpur divisional commissioner and Gadchiroli district collector.The sanctioned land forms part 16.62ha classified under govt ownership in Sonapur. Officials said the allotted 500sqm plot will be transferred after charging occupancy price in accordance with the prevailing ready reckoner rates. The govt has stipulated that the land must be used strictly for the approved purpose of constructing the ACIO office. Any change in land use will require prior approval from the state authorities.The move comes amid efforts to enhance institutional presence in Gadchiroli, a district with strategic importance due to its geographical location and security considerations. Strengthening intelligence infrastructure is expected to improve coordination among agencies and support law enforcement operations in the region.Officials indicated that such targeted infrastructure development aligns with broader state and national priorities of improving governance delivery and internal security mechanisms, particularly in districts that require closer administrative monitoring.
