“Why was the Supplementary List published at midnight? Why are you (ECI) scared? It means there is a lack of transparency and impartiality of ECI and many more names have been deleted,” Banerjee questioned as she left for North Bengal for her campaign.
CM said the judges had cleared the Supplementary list one week ago. “Why did ECI take so much time? Did you do more deletion?”
Banerjee further raised concern that the general public and how they are worried and unable to know if their names have been deleted or exist in the list.
“The Supplementary list has not been displayed at Block and district levels yet. “ECI is not neutral and not impartial. Why cannot the list be seen properly on the website? I will request the media to raise your voice and save democracy,’ Banerjee said. The first supplementary list in West Bengal was published at 11.55 PM last night and faced server issues and, in most cases, the pdfs, could not be downloaded on Assembly Constituency basis, showing errors, technical glitches and captcha error.
Banerjee claimed that it was due to her role and moving to the Supreme Court, that people’s names are there in the list. She claimed that the entire picture cannot be understood now, unless the entire deletion and addition in the Supplementary List come to the forefront, the picture will not be clear.Banerjee also gave a call to all political parties to come together against the one-sided dictatorship and autocracy of one party in the country and see if the polls are free and fair.
Banerjee slammed ECI and questioned how Nandigram BDO be brought to Bhabanipur. “Is it because he is close to “gaddar” (Suvendu Adhikari)?” Banerjee said. She expressed displeasure over the transfer of 73 Returning officers last night. Earlier, Chief Secretary,DGP and altogether 60-70 IAS and IPS have been sent to outside state, Banerjee claimed, adding huge numbers of IAS and IPS officials have been sent outside Bengal.
Trinamool National General Secretary, posting the Kerala CEO office’s letter, wrote in his post, “This is precisely why judicial authority was diluted and the Chief Justice of India was removed from the CEC selection panel. If this trajectory continues, it won’t be long before Supreme Court judgments appear politically stamped.”
“Those sworn to protect the Constitution are now chipping away at its very foundations to serve narrow political ends. A BETRAYAL OF BOTH DUTY AND DEMOCRACY. What a troubling decline for our institutions!” Abhishek wrote.
