Coimbatore: The election flying squad Team (FST) team seized 12kg of ganja from a passenger autorickshaw near the Thudiyalur-Thoppampatti Road on Sunday.The election commission’s FST team was involved in a routine vehicle check near Thudiyalur in view of the upcoming assembly election in the state. During the check, they intercepted a passenger autorickshaw which was heading towards Thoppampatti. When the driver stopped, two passengers from the auto jumped out and fled, leaving behind their bags.When police checked the bags, they found ganja weighing 12.14kg, worth around 6 lakh. They seized the contraband and alerted the Thudiyalur police, who later registered a case under NDPS Act. Efforts are on to apprehend the accused who are absconding.
