Salem: A 14-year-old girl died by suicide at her residence near Sanakari after an alleged sexual advancement by her 32-year-old neighbour on Sunday.The accused, identified as Satish, was warned by Sankari police on Saturday following a harassment complaint lodged by the girl’s parents. However, Satish entered the girl’s house when she was alone on Sunday and tried to make sexual advancements. The girl’s grandfather who came during the commotion alerted neighbours. While neighbours bashed up Sathish, the girl locked herself in a room. When neighbours broke open the door later, they found the girl hanging from a ceiling fan. Police sent the body to the Edappadi government hospital for postmortem. Police registered a case and arrested Satish under the Pocso Act.
