Noida: In a bid to strengthen power supply ahead of the peak summer season, the Noida power department has accelerated infrastructure upgrades under the RDSS and SCADA modernisation schemes. As part of this drive, 33/11 kV substations in Sectors 79 and 80 have been enhanced with additional transformer capacity.Two transformers of 10 MVA each were installed, one in each sector, on Friday. Trials and testing were successfully conducted over the weekend, making the substations fully operational. The upgrade is expected to improve electricity supply for over 20,000 consumers in these sectors and adjoining areas.Vivek Kumar Patel, superintending engineer at PVVNL’s Noida power department, said the enhanced capacity will ensure smoother distribution during high-demand months. “The substations are now better equipped to handle summer load,” he noted.The development is part of a broader plan to modernise Noida’s power network. According to officials, nine new 33/11 kV substations are set to become operational within the next six months, while capacity enhancement of 10 existing substations is currently underway.New substations are being constructed in sectors including 63, 65, 32 and 144. Additionally, 12 more transformers of 10 MVA each are being installed, alongside work on 556 distribution transformers of 250 kVA across multiple sectors.Chief engineer Sanjay Kumar Jain said the multi-year initiative, scheduled until 2027, aims to ensure reliable and efficient power supply across the city. ——————–
