Dr Vikram Shah, CMD of Shalby Hospitals, said that they converted 65 beds for specialized cancer treatment, and would add more if needed.City-based experts said that in the past decade, almost all major hospitals started their advanced cancer treatment facilities, with Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI) also expanding its facilities to over 650 now. “There is no drastic rise in prevalence of cancer, but the condition requires targeted treatment for a long time. The city also caters to nearby states from where the patients are received,” said a senior Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA) official. “Today the city has over 1,000 beds dedicated to cancer treatment,” the official said.
