Ahmedabad: A 22-year-old man on Sunday filed a complaint with Nikol police alleging that his wife was taken to Madhya Pradesh from his house by her family members, days after the couple had a court marriage.The complainant, Golu Shakya, who works in a private firm and lives in Nikol, told police that he married Sonam Kushwaha in Dec 2025. He said her family was not aware of the marriage.According to the complaint, on Dec 24, around 12.30pm, Sonam’s father, Lakhan Kushwaha, along with Mansingh Kushwaha, Brijesh Kushwaha and Abhishek, came to Shakya’s house. Shakya was at work at the time. His sister-in-law and other family members were present in the house.The accused allegedly entered the house, argued with the family members and assaulted them. One of them was carrying a knife. Shakya alleged that the group held his wife and took her away even though she did not agree to go with them.After receiving a call from his family, Shakya returned home. He later received a message from his wife stating that her family was planning to send her to another place.He then travelled to Madhya Pradesh, called local police and brought her back after recording statements.Shakya told police that his wife informed him that her family had threatened them and said they would not allow the marriage. He has alleged that there is a risk that she may be taken away again, after which he approached the police, stated the FIR.Nikol police have registered a case of abduction, assault and criminal intimidation and started an investigation.
