Chennai: Actor-politician Sarathkumar on Sunday said he would write to the BJP leadership seeking a defined role, after supporters raised concerns over the absence of responsibilities since his induction into the party. “When I joined the BJP, I was assured of a role at the national level. My supporters feel that instead of merging AISMK with the BJP, we could have continued as an independent party. I am not dissatisfied, but I do feel a sense of concern,” he said after meeting long-time associates in Chennai. “I joined the BJP out of respect for PM Modi. Neither I nor my wife will contest in the 2026 elections. But how can we function during elections without any responsibility,” he added. TNN
